Mod Information for the Warbirds of Prey Servers

Server Versions
All Warbirds of Prey Servers are currently running the following versions and add-ons:

Spits vs 109s uses the stock game version 4.09m
Spits vs 109s Mods uses version 4.09m + Ultr@Pack 2.01 mods with the 00_WarBirdsOfPrey mod activated
Zekes vs Wildcats uses version 4.09m + Ultr@Pack 2.01 mods with the 00_WarBirdsOfPrey mod activated

Installation
There are numerous ways to download and install what you need. Below is a reliable source and a reliable installation procedure. Everything you need to play on the Warbirds of Prey servers is available at the Warbirds of Prey downloads section of this forum. Links are provided to point you to the appropriate downloads.

Run a QMB mission after every step in the installation process to verify your game loads and appears to run properly. Make sure the splash screen shows the expected version. If you downloaded IL-2 stop now and read the note at the bottom of this post before continuing.

The order of installation is as follows:

IL-2 1946 DVD
Patch to 4.08m [download]
Patch to 4.09m [download]
Add 4.09m skin pack (optional) [download]
If you have the download version you need to install a patch before you can install mods
--- This gives you the most up-to-date stock game and will allow you to fly on Spits vs 109s.
Make a copy of your stock 4.09m game to add mods.
Download Ultr@Pack 2.01 Full Install (9 parts)

Install Ultr@Pack 2.01 (see installation process with pictures below)
Run JSGME, select the 00_WarBirdsOfPrey mod from the list of available mods on the right hand side of the JSGME GUI.

[/list]New installs of IL-2 have default pilot names that are not allowed on WoP. Those are: default, Default, Mad, mad & ?? ??. Make sure you use your normal callsign so that you can join.

If you have already been using some mods and intend to update to a newer version of mods then make sure all Activated Mods (right side of the JSGME GUI) have been removed before installing a new version of mods.

Illustrated installation process for the official patches:

1. Install your game from the DVD or download. By default the game is installed to:
“C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946” for 32 bit Window systems
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946” for 64 bit Window systems

This is where you will apply the next few patches.

2. Create a folder for your downloads. “C:\IL2-Downloads”

3. Download the 4.08m, 4.09m and skins4.09m patches (Referenced Above) to this folder. Patches should never be downloaded to the game folder.

4. If you have the DVD Version of the game, Apply the 4.08m patch by Double-Clicking on the il2_1946_408m.exe file. It will start the installer and ask you where to install the patch. Choose the default installation location mentioned above.

5. Apply the 4.09m & skins4.09m patches the same was as you installed 4.08m above

You should now have a working copy of the latest official game.

Illustrated Mod Installation Procedure

Navigate to where your stock game installation is located. In this example the stock game directory is
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

Make a copy of your stock installation (IL-2 Sturmovik 1946) Right mouse click Copy. Right mouse click Paste.

Rename the copy of the installation you will use to add mods. In this example the name for the mod game is
IL-2 UP2.01

This Step is for those who have the download version of the game only
Download the Ubi-fix.rar file (below) and extract it to the "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 UP 2.01" folder using 7-zip or Win-Rar.
Patch with ubi-fix only for direct download users. download

Go to where you downloaded the UP2.01 install files. Double-Click on UltraPack201_Client.exe to run. You will see an install wizard pop up. Click on the Change button and navigate to your UP 2.01 install folder. In this example
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 UP2.01 Click Next.

Once UP 2.01 has been installed you will have two new icons on your desktop

Double-Click on the Ultr@Pack Update & Restore icon. A new window will pop up. Click on the Browse button and navigate to your UP 2.01 installation folder. In this example
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 UP2.01 Click on Update / Restore button.

A DOS window will pop up. Choose 1 to update to the latest version of UP 2.01 and press Enter

The update procedure will take a while the first time it is run. Be patient and wait for the words "Press any key to continue . . ." Press the space bar. Subsequent updates will not take as long.

Now navigate into your mod directory and find JSGME.exe. In this example
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 UP2.01\JSGME.exe

Double-click on JSGME. You will see a GUI pop up with a choice of available mods on the left side and no mods activated on the right side. Select 00_WarBirdOfPrey.

After selecting 00_WarBirdOfPrey click on the button showing an arrow to the right. Wait for the mod to be installed. Once finished your JSGME GUI will look like this:

Click Close. You are done and ready to fly on Spits vs 109s Mods or Zekes vs Wildcats!!!

Install any optional mods after installing the 00_WarBirdsOfPrey mod. When selecting other Exe mods, you may get the message "il2fb.exe" has already been altered by the "00_WarBirdsOfPrey" mod; just ignore and load the new Exe mod. Other optional mods may have a similar message about a mod already altered by another.

Notice
If you experience any problem joining the servers after adding mods return to the 00_WarBirdsOfPrey mod only.

Be sure to remove all activated mods when switching between JSGME profiles. There have been some problems when switching between mod profiles without clearing the current activated set first. In some instances a completely new install was required to fix the problem. It is highly recommended that you keep a copy of modded IL-2 that passes the CRT=2 checks to avoid having to do complete reinstalls.

Notes on Installing IL-2 via download
Those who downloaded IL-2 require an additional patch. Found here: UBI-fix This only applies to those who downloaded the game. This does NOT apply to those who installed the game using a DVD. If you have the download version then you need to run the UBI-fix patch after you have stock 4.09m working.
