We are in the process of upgrading to Teamspeak3.

We are doing this because there is no longer any support of Teamspeak 2 and the sound quality of teamspeak 3 is much better.

You can get the TS3 client from www.teamspeak.com (Downloads) section.

The one negative is there are not many Teamspeak Overlay programs for TS3 at this time.  It comes with support for the Logitech G15/G19 keyboard. If you know of any please post here.

We will continue to provide the TS2 server until members have time to upgrade.

You can connect to the Teamspeak 3 server using the IP address: 69.90.34.220 default port 9987  If it asks for a password, use falcon9

I posted this in the other thread, but having it all in one place is better for organization. Here is a link to some cool tips and tricks you can do with TS3:

http://www.righttorule.com/index.php?module=Dizkus&func=viewtopic&topic=3593&start=0

Here are some other cool things you can do with it too:

1. You can set individual volume levels for everyone in team speak. To do this right click on a persons name and select [ Change Volume ]. So for those who tend to be a little quiet you can up their setting and for those who talk to much... Well you can mute them.

Don't forget you can change the default voices and make custom skins for it  too (for those with more coding experience than me).

Wouldn't it be cool to have a custom skin for WoP?

Here is the link, and there is a sticky that offers all the details:
http://forum.teamspeak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=112

2. Don't forget to setup phonetic nicknames too. In other words if people have their voice notifications turned on, then when I join it would sound like this (using my name TX-Thunderbolt):

"T , X,  hyphen,  thunderbolt has just joined the server". Yes, the hyphen would be spoken as well. I would strongly suggest you set up your phonetic nicknname as short and tidy as possible to make things easier to hear and identify. Accordingly, I'm setting my phonetic nickname to "TB". I'd make sure to leave out ANY and ALL dashes, hyphens, squad tags, etc,.. as that wench can get too wordy in a hurry.

p.s. Here's a link to the TS3 forum regarding custom skins and the process to make them...if anyone's interested: http://forum.teamspeak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=112

Hi Fellows,

Check this for a plugin if you want, still beta:

Place found:
http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=47256&page=4

To download directly:

cfxxl: " I put up a download page:
http://tsnotifier.cfxxl.de/

This is a beta-release. There may/will be bugs. So have fun testing."

For install instructions I quote Wolfseye:

"Works fine for me. Installed the Application first (.msi File) and then I unpacked the contents of the other File (helper plugin) into the TS3 Plugin Folder. Now you start Teamspeak 3, go to OPTIONS and PLUGINS and enable the Plugin you then should see new in the list there.

Restart TS3. Start the application then, you should then have a little "TS" icon in your Taskbar. Now start Teamspeak again and start a Game. I tried it with Joint Operations which is DX9. And as I said, worked fine. "

Remember, it is a Beta, use at your own risk.

Edit: Forgot to mention, it is DirectX only. Took me some time to realize I run my game in Open GL !! Smiley Anyway, it works. Requires latest Dx version though. I had to download from MS, got a "d3dx9_42.dll Missing" error message. Worked fine.

Cheers,

So TS 2 and 3 are not compatible?

I installed it and joined ok, but no one else is in there. Plenty on the TS 2 tho. Same IP.

Love the G-15 app for it.

 Cool

They are not  compatible (in  other words you cannot join TS2 with TS3 and vice versa) but will reside together on the same PC and you can speak on both together.  You will get some echo.

Same IP but different ports.

I've a question regarding setting up whispers on TS3. I'll take this over to the TS3 forums too, but wanted to see if anyone here has had similar issues.

On Tuesday, I made my first attempt to setup some whispers and once I figured out the process was able to do it without issue. The drag and drop function is actually easier and quicker to establish, and I like it.

Last night, I was trying to setup a second whisper  and was able to go through the process o.k. until I got to assigning the desired hotkey. I started by creating a "new whisper" and I dragged a couple people into the whisper box. I renamed the whisper then clicked on the box to "assign a hotkey" (actually, I think it said "No hotkey assigned" on the button). It activated and the typical dropdown box allowing hotkey assignment opened up.

Here's where the problem lies for me. Once all that is done, and the hotkey assignment box is opened, TS3 doesn't recognize any keystrokes I press except for "esc" which closes the window. I repeated this several times with the same results and accordingly was unable to assign a second, different whisper...not good.

Certainly this is a somewhat isolated issue, but has anyone else had this problem? and, are there any ideas or is there a known fix?

Thanks

TB

There's not much to beat TS2 in regards to stability, but I'm starting to like TS3 the more I fiddle with it.

One of the things I really like about TS2 is the fact that it just doesn't take much fiddling to get the hang of it. Of course a certain amount of that is familiarity and like I said, the more I use TS3, the more I like it.

Another version update and improved support from 3rd party apps will no doubt make it even better.

Just a thought... maybe a dumb one but here goes anyway.

If you are using TS3 put it in your nick for now? Maybe we can get some people to start using it that way.

Cdr84onTS3? Easily done by direct IP.

Nobody wants to talk to me anyway, but some of you guys might get some action on TS3 that way.

Ok, I'll go away now.

If anyone goes on there and then complains of no one being there (before not ever coming back), the reason that no one is there is because of you yourself. A common phenomena is where people drop by, see no one or very few, then leave. The odds that enough people drop by at the same short time are small. Smiley And even if one stays signed in longer, it's still up to you.

No use sticking with ancient lacking TeamSpeak 2. I installed TS3 due to this and I made sure I could sign in, dialed in some settings etc. Very nice program. When I do start flying rather than coding utilities for IL-2, I will get on the Warbirds servers and no matter what, always use the TS3 server, even if no one else bothers coming in at that time.

Betcha when WoP stops using TS2 and switches full support exclusively to TS3, people will be there using it...Until then, it's a crap shoot as to where you'll find peeps.

Betcha.   Tongue

BTW, you can run both at the same time without issue.

Maybe we should all start doing this.

Just be sure to use a different push to talk key for each so you don't drive everyone crazy.

Thanks Cdr84! I set-up two teamspeaks TS2 and TS3 both running together and it seems to be working all right! I had TS on joy hat left/right, now key left is for TS3 and key right is for TS2 :)

Yes, I was running TS3 and flying in Rise of Flight and had TS2 open talking to some WoP guys at the same time before I switched over to the IL2 server. I had TS2 on PTT and the TS3 guys on whisper.

It was a bit confusing at times, but there were no conflicts.
