WE ARE GOING TO TRY THIS ONE AGAIN.  I MADE SOME WORK-AROUND ADJUSTMENTS THAT HOPEFULLY WILL ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM WHICH PREVENTED MANY PILOTS FROM SPAWNING IN TWO WEEKS AGO AND THE AUTO-SCHEDULING PROBLEM FROM LAST WEEK.

This week's Bomber Night mission is a special mission called "Ebro".  It is a "dogfight-only" Spanish Civil War mission.  Flight times are short, and there will be lots and lots of action.  It's designed as a fun little mission.

The mission is also a test of this map.  I have been working on several bomber-oriented BN missions with this map, but want to try out the map online, before finalizing and running those other missions (I still got lots of detail work to do on those, and don't want to waste the time if the underlying map has online problems).

The mission uses the Ebro Valley map, which I don't think has ever been used on WoP before.  Unfortunately, although the map is filled with airfields, each airfield seems to have only 6 spawn points (most airfields on most maps have 18-24 spawn points); consequently, since I wanted to have a small "battle zone", I had to use air-starts only.

The planeset is as follows:

Republican:

DXXI SARJA3 EARLY
I-15 m25
I-16 type10
R-5

v.

Nationalist:

Bf-109B-1
CR-32 quater
G-50
He51C-1
Hs-123

NOTE:  Last time we did a Spanish Civil War mission, the bi-planes and I-16s did very well against the 109B-1, so it is more balanced than it might appear at first.

Please enjoy and let me know your comments.

Nice!! I really like fly with the old warbirds!! This week I was ended a article about the Fiat Cr.32 "Chirri" to publishing on a aeronautical magazine here in Brazil and was reading just about the Ebro Ofensive!!

Mackstone, I also read about a Hungarian-Slovakian conflict in 1938 and can I post for you a MP  about one idea to BN around the combats from this war??

I've love to get the information on the Hungarian-Slovakian conflict.  I've got something that talks a little (too little) about it.

Of course, we'll do WW2 mostly, but there are a few other scenarios I would like to try out (e.g.- I have a couple Suez Crisis 1956 missions I'm working on).

Sorry about that guys.  The mission wouldn't allow more than 6 spawns.  As mentioned before, the underlying map allows only 6 spawns per airbase, but that can usually be overridden with airstarts.  ... usually ...  Not this time.

I have some Spanish Civil War scenarios in mind.  Let me work on this further.  Sorry again.

The re-run from last week (which I missed) was fun.

Gents I have quite a lot of material about the Hungarian Slovakian conflict. I am Hungarian (with half of my heart in Spain jeje)  and lately there were a lot of publications in Hungarian aviation magazines on this thread. Problem is that everything is in Hungarian so I will have to work a bit on translations but I'm happy to do that.

I am currently not at home so I don't have my library at my disposal though from the first days of November I can hand you over interviews with pilots, detailed descriptions of dogfights, exact location of airfields and troops etc. and the general evolution of air activities.

I'm sorry.  Someone must have forgot to load it in the rotation (they don't let me do that, or I'll break the server -  Cheesy).  I had to be out for work, and didn't get back til late.

We will re-run.

There were lots of good sports last night.  Those aircraft were so bad.  I tried ... and died ... in every type.  They were so slow that one pilot quipped that he landed by simplying flying low and stepping out of his plane. Cheesy  The dogfights, however, were intense with from 5 to 12 aircraft in the mix most of the time.

thanks for that map. the free for all dogfifhts were great. those I15 do turn on a dime. my only regret is that as i was flyig out to the engagement, i crept up on a fellow I15 and, thinking he was coming toward me, i opened fire, saw debris come off, then realized it was a friendly. To whomever that pilot was, i truly apologize. other than that, the action was great. Thanks again for having that change up.
