I can get version 4 for about $75 less than version 5.  Is there a big difference between the two?  I think you can even use version 5 drivers on 4, so what is the difference?

not sure on what the differences are but you can use the Version 5 software with Version 4 hardware, as they say it works for me.

Cheers

This entirely depends on how much 75 $ is to you. The higher specs will give you very little practical benefit, but if you can afford it then you should probably get the 5.

I have both 4 & 5, on different systems (both with the version 5 software). Although I haven't done a proper comparison, it does seem that the 5 is distinctly smoother than the 4.

In reality the 5 just has a larger FOV than the 4.  The performance will be the same.   The larger FOV means it's less likely to  lose tracking if you are leaning and moving around.  It does have an avantage.
